Berta Fernández Monreal, second place in Andalusia Chess Championship

Berta Fernández Monreal, a lovely student from Primary 6, has been awarded second place (tied with the champion from Sevilla) in the Andalusia Chess Scholar Championship held from April 9th to 12th 2015 in Roquetas del Mar.

The event brought together 355 schoolchildren from all Andalusian provinces, with 12 attending LAUDE El Altillo School whose behaviour in and out of the tournament was outstanding.  Berta Fernández Monreal has been getting great results in this discipline for years. We would like to highlight that the student has obtained a scholarship to play in the National Junior Chess Competition to be held from July 5th 11th, 2015 in Salobreña (Granada) where she will try to be Spanish champion.

We had a serious chance of medals with our Primary 2 pupil Martina Pérez Escudero who was in the top three in all rounds. She lost the last game that could position herself as champion, eventually reaching a very worthy fifth position.

Moreover LAUDE El Altillo School Chess Team will soon participate in the Spanish School Championship next May, 1st to 3rd and in the Spanish Online School Championship.
