VI Technology Week El Altillo School

13th October 15

VI Technology Week El Altillo School

During the 6th, 7th and 8th of October we celebrated the fifth Technology Week, dedicated to the world of Open Source software.

With the start of each academic year, we begin to think about shaping “our week”, which is Technology Week, in the New Technologies Department.

We always try to focus on our students, on how to instill in them, through Information Technology, a set of values that we believe are essential in their education as individuals.

This year we have tried to deepen some of these values through the various activities we had prepared.

The importance of being inquisitive is encouraged, in order to develop their natural sense of curiosity, and acquire the necessary skills to do research with the Robotics workshops with Lego Mind-storms, which 5th and 6th year Primary students have worked on as well as Secondary students and Programming Workshops with Kodu, which 2nd year Baccalaureate students have lead their younger peers in the 5th and 6th year through.

Good communicators have been working and preparing activities which involve debate with 4th year Secondary and 1st year Baccalaureate students, understanding and expressing ideas and information confidently and creatively.

Being an audacious student who addresses unfamiliar situations and uncertainty with determination and an independent spirit. These are the qualities which the students have been able to develop in the Creation and Image editing workshops with 3D Development (Office Edition). When secondary students were faced with unknown software, they managed to achieve the performance expected of them when they use software which is familiar to them.

Besides, they had a lot of fun! Until next year!
