25th April 16
On the occasion of the upcoming celebration of World Book Day, dedicated this year to Ruben Dario and the commemoration of the anniversaries of the deaths of Cervantes and Shakespeare, the Department of Arts and Literature has organized an extensive programme of activities and events that students will be able to enjoy at different times from today until Friday.
During the course of the week, an ensemble of posters, projections and other work will be exhibited in the lobby at the Centre and in the surrounding corridors. Some of the work which has been done by secondary students will be presented for the World Book Day Contest, and allude to the figure of Rubén Darío and Modernism. Along with this, also in the lobby, our traditional book stalls will be set up.
Among other activities which are highlights of the celebration, there are poetic-musical recitals by students who take part in the Poetry Workshop, theatrical performances, the finals of the debate tournament against The Altillo. There are also screenings of interesting films which are based on literary works, and a visit and informative talk by a bookseller, as well as various outings and excursions for each academic course.
The Department of Arts and Literature is confident that, yet another year, World Book and Humanities Week will be a success which will allow our Secondary and Baccalaureate students to enjoy themselves, as well as deepen their appreciation of literature and culture.
