Last weekend the “LAUDE El Altillo School” International Open chess competition was celebrated at School.
The Argentinean Great Master Daniel Campora was proclaimed champion.
In the fifteenth edition of this prestigious International Open Chess competition where school and professional chess unite in the same tournament 135 players participated. Year after year this tournament has been consolidated as the best Andalusian fast chess tournament, a date to remember in the calendar of all amateurs in this sport
On this occasion, six International Masters have participated and there was a wide representation of all the clubs in the province, besides Huelva and Seville, and of course the Laude El Altillo School chess club from which 20 students played and Pablo Martin de Laá was proclaimed champion.
This XV Chess Open continues the work of spreading and developing this educational sport – not in vain are we the only centre in Andalusia which has fully introduced chess in its academic programme, especially for the importance given to chess which is a key element in developing cognitive skills such as the ability to reason, calculus and creativity.
